Century: Montenegro became part of Yugoslavia after World War I. II. It was occupied by Italy during World War II, but was rescued by partisans. In 1946, it became one of the six autonomous federated units that formed Yugoslavia. After the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1992, it established a federation with Serbia.
